CANON INFORMATION

CHARACTER NAME: Sira
CANON: Original, made for Daybreak

STRENGTHS: Sira is adaptable. They are perpetually learning and growing, seeking new traits and new experiences. Even in a situation they're not fond of, they adjust to try and make the most of it. They're not resistant to changing who they are and what they like, instead embracing it where they can. New skills are picked up easily. They're willing to exhaust whatever resource they can to achieve their goals, even if it means losing one thing or another.

Sira, while not initially seeming to, has a protective streak. With a number of their past hosts having summoned them in dire circumstances, they pay attention to any sign of a threat against those they like, even if that threat comes from someone that person would be close to. While they have the daemonic perspective of seeing the world as naturally and inherently cruel, they don't tolerate the behaviour towards hosts or friends. They won't choose the moral path, but they do genuinely seek to fulfil wishes asked of them (or that they perceived with a summoning) without trickery, whether the casualties of said results were wanted or not.

Sira has an energy and a love for life. They appreciate the little things and prefer positive engagement with others, even if they might lack the social understanding of what is and isn't considered acceptable at all times. They see beauty even where it's not necessarily obvious.

FLAWS: Sira is a daemon and while they've adopted many human perspectives over the years, most of those summoning him were desperate, careless, or otherwise cruel, and thus they have very little in the way of a normal human understanding. Because of that, they can be just as flippant, cruel, and careless, holding onto the lingering daemonic ideas of the world. They're quick to consider violence as the best tool or only option. They don't understand resistance to this when people express it.

They do no direct this cruelty on their hosts, but after so long sharing forms, Sira no longer finds comfort in either being alone or being entirely themself. They struggle to mirror people without a full long-term possession but still feel the need to. They want to form the bonds and connections they lack without a willing host, with their ideal diving into co-dependence. However, because they can't prevent the inevitable demise of the other soul, this opens them up to immense loss (something they neglect to address because daemons don't mourn).

Finally, Sira is vain, immature, and self-centred. They come by the immaturity honestly, for a daemon of their age, but it does nothing for them. They're prone to sulking, pouting, and throwing minor tantrums. Because they believe they have the best intentions, it angers them when people intervene or disapprove. Their vanity can lead to embracing the shallower things in life, while neglecting the depth and complexity needed to really understand people-- without possession.

CANON ABILITIES: Sira is a mostly typical daemon, possessing a sigil which may be used to summon them anywhere, any time, so long as it does not violate any current contract. They are capable of possessing all manner of beings as well as consuming souls in this manner. They have a very low level charm which has, thus far, proved largely ineffective at Daybreak and involves speaking or singing in daemonic tongue.

They have the ability to perform a number of spells, even some enclosed to specific mage families so long as they possessed someone with said knowledge. They can absorb and utilize any new abilities of beings they possess. They can perform minor glamors for vanity purposes, particularly in adjusting the appearances of hosts.

Sira is capable of manifesting from their given host or body for brief times. This reveals their true form and allows them to engage with the world in ways they would otherwise be restricted. However, whether they choose to be corporeal or incorporeal, the time in which they can do this is limited. In most cases it leaves them drained and unable to perform the feat again for some time.

If they were somehow removed from a host or body for an extended period of time, with no other magical support, they would, eventually, die.

AU INFORMATION

AU CHARACTER NAME: Sira
AGE: A few centuries old, but mentally younger
GRADE: Graduate (or undergrad) technically, but not apping as a student so much as Avery Atchison's minion.
AU BACKSTORY: Sira is a lower level daemon born from a species of daemons that routinely possesses other beings in order to absorb and consume the souls, abilities, and physical attributes of those beings (including their own kind, and even offspring). Through this they grow stronger until the need to possess other beings is no longer necessary and they simply absorb through consuming other directly. However, full manifestation like this takes significant possessions and time, something Sira has not yet gained, thus still making them reliant on hosts.

While many daemons of their kind seek out more powerful beings, Sira relies on human hosts. They've left their sigil in various places throughout the world, with summoning instruction, in order to possess those that follow through with it. They elected to do this in exchange for some deep wish held in the host's mind, often through less than ideal methods. They would commence their rampage of sorts in the first few hours, in which the host was unconscious, and if not killed before then, they and their host usually met an end through internal conflict or sheer accident.

However, with time, Sira became more enamoured with human life and simple pleasures. Likewise, they began bonding deeply with their hosts. More than is even normal for their kind, Sira would began absorbing and adopting traits of personalities, memories, feelings, and more, until their soul could potentially become almost indistinguishable from the host's. They would develop a desire to protect their hosts and more so, fulfill those wishes they were initially summoned for. However, despite all of this, Sira could never help the inevitable end of absorbing their host's souls.

They became particularly adverse to this fate following the loss of their longest host, a little girl from a cruel mage family who sought to be free. Sira took it upon themself to kill the family, and dispose of them, giving the girl her sought after freedom. Unlike previous hosts, she took well to this, and the two became friends, holding conversations and enjoying life in a shared body. This went on for years, the girl's soul lasting due to the pairs cooperation, however, she too ended up absorbed eventually once she neared what would have been her mid-teens. Grieving, but not fully understanding the feeling due to their daemonic nature, Sira set the house on fire and left the body to burn there. They would come to abandon every body that became "too empty" for them, orchestrating that life's end themself. They had ceased to be comfortable being alone and whole unto themself.

Then, Sira was accidentally summoned by the Riveras in an attempt to resurrect Héctor. This largely resulted in a number of student and faculty attacking and eventually overwhelming them. They were given the option of an early death or signing a contract written up by Avery Atchison to serve him for a century (or until the contract became otherwise null). Sira chose the latter and their soul was put within a doll's body, on the one hand, letting them exist without a host, but on the other, making them exist without another spirit.

They are currently against Nightfall due to being drawn to human life, as well as the likelihood that, in a fully daemon run world, they'll be eaten quickly.

RACE: Daemon
SECRET SOCIETY: N/A
POWERS: Powers are unmodified from the canon ability list.

HOUSING: No preference, but I'm not sure Sira would officially have a room given non-student status.
